Dsquared2’s Autumn/Winter 2010 menswear show seemed clearly inspired by sports, bloodlust and rock ‘n roll. The high end fashion label was created by Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten, born Catenacci, who seem to have also incorporated their country’s national sport–hockey–into their latest designs. Dsquared clothing’s offerings of great t-shirts, slim pants, hoodies, skinny ties, blazers and overcoats, as well as Dsquared jeans, are the perfect pieces for the stylish yet still masculine man this Autumn.
Blood-spattered and muscled models stalked down the runway wearing versatile separates in a neutral palette of black, white, dark blue and grey. Some had faux bloodied knuckles, suggesting a boxer, while still others sported shirts with a crest that echoed the NHL’s symbol. Most had faces that looked bruised and bloodied, perhaps suggesting that fashion isn’t for the faint of heart.
Like most denim lines Dsquared jeans come in a variety of styles and washes. The majority of the looks for 2010 are slim fitting, slightly tapered jeans with attitude. Many of the looks were accessorized by heavy boots and a variety of belts to add some toughness and rock ‘n roll chic.
A special guest on Dsquared’s Milan runway was Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz. The slim singer was decked out in an outfit that was both tough and flamboyant. Leather pants, heavy boots, chains, eyeliner and wings completed Kaulitz’s look and confirmed Dsquared’s vision of a man able to be cutting edge, masculine and a little bit shocking all at the same time.
